“Roses are Red…”

Hellooo, February! Hearts and flowers, chocolates and champagne, Be Mine and Valentine’s Day. It’s also American Heart Month. What better time to showcase the beautiful Red Lacquer Room at the Palmer House Hilton in downtown Chicago?
It was a crisp, clear winter day for Theresa and Eduardo’s celebration and everything was sparkling – from the suites at the Palmer House to the lights at the church to State Street and Michigan Avenue and, of course, the Red Lacquer Room itself. It was magical!

The day was coordinated by two of my favorite people and their teams – Anthony Navarro of Liven it Up Events and Jane Himmel of the Palmer House Hilton. Working with these seasoned event pros made my job that much easier!

Since it’s all about Red, I’m starting out today with the Red Lacquer Room itself. Such a gorgeous space! A classic, timeless venue, with those deep red and gold tones that make it so unique. And, I love the styling of the cake – it echoes the classic look, and the red roses are the perfect accessory!

One of the many things I love about this room is that, really, it decorates itself. Flowers are all you need for a finishing touch, and Fragrant Design’s pretty Baby’s Breath centerpieces are the perfect complement to the room’s decor. Simple and elegant, they enhance the room rather than competing with it. (and, I really like the height…everyone can see each other at the table, makes for better mingling!)

More Red! Lovely accents on the head table, against the white linens, they really pop!

And look at the roses in the bridesmaids’ bouquet…such a rich and luscious Red!

And…here we are, time to get ready! Does it get any cuter than these pink robes?!

Theresa opens her wedding gift from Eddie and, it’s beautiful! She’ll be wearing it later on…

Purply-pink Manolo’s? Yes, please!

The texture on Theresa’s dress was perfect for a winter wedding, it not only gave it an elegant look, but it was warmer, too.

The suites at the Palmer House were really lovely – as a photographer who shoots in all shapes/sizes of spaces, it was a treat to have so much room, and to be able to include everyone in the photos.

One of my faves, here’s Theresa’s Dad, helping her put on Eddie’s wedding gift, so sweet!

Being a Chicago Winter Wedding, the hotel was decorated for the holidays in an elegant, understated way – the lights and trees were a lot of fun to include!

The historic Palmer House Lobby makes a pretty accessory to the stunning bride, don’t you think?

Arriving at Notre Dame de Chicago, a stunning church in Chicago’s Little Italy/Near West Side neighborhood. I love the stole Theresa chose to keep herself warm!

The red and white roses with the black dresses all work so well together!

Theresa and Eddie included the Lasso/Cord tradition in their ceremony. The figure-eight loop around the couple symbolizes many things: their love for one another binding them together, their lifetime unity, and it’s also a symbol of marital protection.

The new Mr. and Mrs.! I love the extra sparkle the Christmas Trees give this already special moment!

We had a lot of fun wandering around downtown Chicago – it was cold, but no one really cared, it was such a clear night! And the newlyweds enjoyed keeping each other warm.
