“All right, Mr. Hollis, I’m ready for my close-up”
Lights, Camera…Action!
I’m used to being behind the camera, and occasionally in front of a video camera at weddings and events, but this undertaking was something very different. At weddings, the subjects are the bride and groom and their guests, so if I happen to get on camera, it’s just part of their day, as I’m part of their day. This, though…this was about me. And not just me, but me, making real photographs of real clients at a real engagement session. While being videotaped. And occasionally interviewed during the process. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done!
It was a great opportunity through a partnership initiative between the Lakeview Chamber of Commerce (of which I am a member and alum Board Member) and Emmy award-winner Ben Hollis and his W.I.L.D. video series, which has it’s roots on PBS. That’s “What I Love Doing,” which I certainly do, and I think you can see through this that Ben does, too.
It takes a village, as they say, and luckily I was surrounded by a wonderful group of people who helped make this an awesome experience. Ben was a joy to work with and completely put me at ease. My clients, Whitney + Bob (more on their Charlotte wedding to come!), were such great sports in agreeing to be on-camera during our Chicago engagement session. Nick Wrzesinski, a talented photographer on his own and good friend who I always know I can count on (thanks to him for the fun behind-the-scenes shots!). And, of course, my husband John, always patient, supportive, and Sherpa extraordinaire. Thank you all!
I hope you enjoy watching this as much as I did making it!
What great shots! Thanks for sharing what happens behind the scenes. You clearly LOVE what you do!
Love your work. I’m a friend of Jason’s. I just love photography. Thanks for doing justice to the craft.
Thank you very much, Stacie! That means a lot to me to hear!
[…] Angie was also interviewed in action about her work by Ben Hollis… watch here! […]
